Michelle Delaney - Principal My name is Michelle Delaney, I have loved art for as long as I can remember. My love of art progressed as a fine arts student under Deborah Angus at Angus Art School at the age of 12. Under Deborah’s teachings I won a large variety of art prizes including First prize at The Sydney Royal Easter Show, multiple prizes and artwork sold at the St Ives Agricultural Society competitions, Drummoyne Art Prize and many more.
As part of my Duke Of Edinburgh award I did my work experience with Deborah helping teach students art, and loved it! Once I finished high school I was asked to start teaching at Angus Art School, I continued teaching at the school for over 5 years whilst studying at The University of Technology Sydney for a Bachelor of Design. Whilst at University I majored in CAD, illustration and photography. I also went on to study at The International School of Colour and Design under Prue Royal, gaining a certificate IV in Colour and Design and an advanced Diploma in Interior Styling as well as an advanced Diploma in Colour Consulting.
Once I graduated I moved to Queensland to work as a colour specialist at a large Australian Paint Company and at the same time I opened up my first Art School on the Gold Coast. Years later I eventually moved back to Sydney and have been teaching now for over 18 years, I am also a recurring artist in residence for many local public schools and I am an active commission artist, painting murals as well. My overall goal is to expand and continue to create a wonderful calm environment for children to create and learn the value of art in everyday life, and to teach children to be confident and proud of their work. I take pride in my teaching method, I use a step by step process based on traditional drawing methods that have been around for hundreds of years. Anyone at any age can learn to draw and paint with the right guidance.
I have current First Aid and CPR training certificates and my Working with Children number is WWC1217498E. Documents and certificates are available upon request.
